How-to guide
How to remove vocals in Logic Pro vs VocalSplit
Logic Pro 10.8 introduced Stem Splitter, a built-in AI-powered stem separator. It is convenient if you already use Logic. VocalSplit is still a better standalone option for anyone else — and sometimes for Logic users too.
Logic's Stem Splitter produces Drums, Bass, Vocals and Other stems. VocalSplit only does vocals and instrumental — but the vocal separation itself is comparable, and VocalSplit works on any device without owning Logic.
Step-by-step
- Logic method — Import the song and select the track. Drag the audio file into a Logic project, click on the region so it is highlighted.
- Logic method — Run Stem Splitter. Right-click the region then Stem Splitter then Split. Wait for processing. Logic creates four new tracks.
- VocalSplit method — Open vocalsplit.io. Any browser, no Logic required.
- VocalSplit method — Upload and pay. Drop the file, pay $0.99, wait about 15 seconds.
- Decide which to use when. Logic is faster if you are already in a session and want all four stems. VocalSplit is cheaper per one-off, works on any device, and gives you the same vocal quality without committing to a DAW session.
Tips for better results
- Logic's Stem Splitter needs a reasonably modern Mac — older Intel machines will be slow.
- VocalSplit is the only option if you do not own Logic, are on Windows, or just want a one-off.
- Even Logic users sometimes prefer VocalSplit for batch work (10 songs at once, no DAW involved).
