How-to guide
How to remove vocals from an AIFF file
AIFF is Apple's lossless uncompressed format and shows up most often in Logic Pro and GarageBand exports. VocalSplit accepts it directly and treats it with the same fidelity as a WAV file.
AIFF and WAV are nearly identical technically (both are PCM containers), so you will get the same quality and roughly the same 20–30 second processing time either way.
Step-by-step
- Open VocalSplit.io. Runs in any modern browser, no software to install.
- Upload your AIFF file. Drag it in. Files up to 100 MB — which is about 10 minutes of 16-bit/44.1 kHz stereo audio — are supported.
- Pay for the split. $0.99 for one, or $4.99 for a 10-pack if you have more tracks to process.
- Wait around 25 seconds. AIFF takes about the same time as WAV because the audio data is the same size.
- Download lossless WAV stems. Both stems are returned as 24-bit WAV. Drop them straight into your Logic Pro or GarageBand session.
Tips for better results
- For very long AIFF exports from a live session, bounce to a smaller region first to stay under 100 MB.
- If your AIFF is 32-bit float, export again at 24-bit before uploading.
- The resulting WAV stems import cleanly into Logic Pro, Ableton, Pro Tools, Cubase and Reaper.
