VocalSplit vs Ableton Live Stem Separation

Ableton Live 12 Suite introduced Stem Separation in late 2024. It is excellent for Suite owners. Everyone else — Standard, Intro, Windows users without Live — still needs a standalone tool, and VocalSplit fits cleanly.

Why VocalSplit wins for most people

If you run Live Standard or Intro, or you simply do not want to open Live just to separate one song, VocalSplit is the faster path. One browser tab, one click, 15 seconds, 99 cents. No upgrade, no session, no waiting for a track to import.

What VocalSplit gives up

VocalSplit returns two stems. Live Suite's Stem Separation returns four (drums, bass, vocals, other). For full 4-stem coverage, chain VocalSplit with DrumSplit — same credit wallet, every device supported.

Our take: Live Suite owners can use the built-in separator for in-session work. But VocalSplit is cheaper per job, works on every device, and is the right tool the moment you step outside of Ableton.
