How-to guide
How to remove vocals from an MP4 video's audio
VocalSplit separates audio files, not videos — but if you have an MP4 with a song or dialogue track, the fix is a 30-second two-step flow: extract the audio with VideoSplit, then run it through VocalSplit.
VideoSplit is our free sister tool. It runs entirely in your browser (no upload, no account, no cost) and converts an MP4, MOV, WebM or AVI to MP3 or WAV in seconds.
Step-by-step
- Open VideoSplit.io. Go to videosplit.io in any modern browser. It is completely free and processes everything client-side.
- Drop your MP4 file in. VideoSplit reads MP4, MOV, WebM, AVI, MKV and more. Nothing uploads — the extraction happens in your own browser.
- Export as MP3 or WAV. Click Export and save the audio file to your Downloads folder.
- Open VocalSplit.io and upload the exported audio. Drag the MP3 or WAV into the VocalSplit upload area.
- Pay and download the stems. After about 15 seconds, download the vocals and instrumental stems as 24-bit WAV files.
Tips for better results
- Use WAV export from VideoSplit for the cleanest source — it is lossless.
- If your MP4 is very long (over 20 minutes), trim it first to stay under the 100 MB limit.
- This same flow works for MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI and every other common video container.
